yeah i had a serving or two.

okay, so what did i do today? i went out for lunch with my parents and then went home. it sounds damn loser to say that i pretty mulched around the house on a public holiday but seriously it isn’t. i did a ton of productive things. first, i finally registered my ipod warrant which is something i’ve been meaning to do for months. then i played guitar (note: not guitarhero, a real damn GUITAR) for a long time, and actually managed to play something that remotely resembled a song. erm, then i blogged and uploaded pictures. and uhh, watched half a lifetime’s worth of television. ahh fuck, seriously i’m a loser la. i’m in army and i stayed at home on a public holiday.

shit, and i just realised all my old blog entries are on my comp which as of now is almost as good as dead. windows can’t even start anymore. i can’t imagine all my entries just gone like that. i remember using ms word to wordcount the entries and it was like almost 100k words or something. that’s like, what, half the bible? shit, i’ll be damn depressed if they’re gone. if i get the chance, maybe i’ll print them all out and put them in a folder or something.

speaking of bibles, i have just about officially stopped going to church. its weird. there was a stretch of a couple of weeks where i didn’t go and no one pestered me to go, but i didn’t realise anything yet. then one day, my mom tells me to my face that she’s not going to make me go to church anymore. she told me that it was ultimately my choice whether to go and that i was probably old enough to make the decision on my own. of course, no one said anything about the pointlessness of being in church against one’s will, you’re still going to hell. i never imagined it would be like this. the little perverse and rebellious portion of my mind always imagined that one day i would ask to speak to my parents in private and tell them that i didn’t believe and that i refuse to go anymore. and then there would a myriad of responses, amongst them would probably anger, disbelief and above all denial. and there would be a cold war in my house for a while. but fortunately, things didn’t turn out quite like i imagined.

don’t get me wrong. i am by no means cedric soh wei xiong. i don’t believe in the presence of an omnipresent being, but it doesn’t make me an aethist or anything. i’ve just never been any sort of a spiritual person, and i never bought the whole concept of religion. the whole concept of needing spiritual intervention to achieve things just never appealed to me. i mean, when you step up, all your hardwork and determination was possible only through his help. and then when you fuck up, well then that’s all your own damn fault. why can’t my achievements be because i worked my fucking ass off all on my own? i think i’m too realistic a person for religion to play any part in my life. and for people who know me, well they probably know i’m not really, or even remotely a spiritual person.

of course, i never ever said that religion is a bad thing. its not for me, but i think its a good force on this planet. if it makes people be better people, i don’t see anything wrong with it. i mean there are a few notable exceptions, but i really think religion has been one of the driving forces of good here.

i think that’s about all the views i have on religion, and its all i want to say about it.
