fucked up day in camp today.
managed to get myself stuck with some crap job of collecting weapons from some random ulu maintenance camp. normally the regulars settle the admin work while grunts like myself are relegated to the physical fetching of whatever weapons that have to be sent or collected. but today, i got stuck with doing the admin work which i had absolutely no idea how to do. in the end, i spent the better part of the morning running around gathering and regathering signatures just to get authorization to move out.
and as if the world wanted to further test my patience, even though i should have expected this, the weapons weren’t ready. they weren’t even remotely ready to be collected. firstly, they were still in bits and piecse. secondly, the people there had no idea how to assemble the weapons to the point at which they called the armourer from my camp to go down to their camp to help them. and finally, the guy from our side took one look and told us that there were still parts missing.
in the end, after three hours of waiting, we took whatever parts there were and left. i think as a spec, i’m pretty much unaffected by such things because we’re all pretty much accustomed to how the army works. my officer, on the other hand, got himself really worked up over the whole thing. he obviously hasn’t experienced being a spec before because we’re all very used to waiting for crap like this and we always have something to occupy ourselves with.
aside from that, not much went on.
